The Gambia Police Force has arrested a marabou named Baboucarr Jallow a native of Banjulunding village, who allegedly killed a woman, chopped her body into pieces, then packed the pieces into three bags and dumped the bags behind the fence of the Banjul International Airport.
According to family sources, the deceased Mama Barrow, is said to have been missing for almost six weeks without any trace. The matter was then reported to the Tallinding Police Station.
Mama is a native of Badibou Gunjur who is resident at Tallinding Farokono; she is married to a polygamous husband who lives abroad. The deceased is also said to be in her 30s.
The suspect who is currently helping the police in their investigation was arrested in Batakunko Village, Kombo South District a place he has been hiding after he allegedly committed the crime, sources say.
The spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force has explained that on April 18th a Security Officer of the Gambia Civil Aviation reported the matter at new Yundum Police station that he came across the decomposed remains of a human being in three separate bags
The police immediately went to the scene, confirmed the story and took the decomposed body to the Edward Francis Small Teaching hospital. A search was then conducted and later the family confirmed that the deceased often visited a marabou in Banjulunding.
The suspect according to the police, claimed that the deceased owed him D150, 000 and had failed to pay it and on that fateful day of the incident, police say, the marabou asked the deceased to pay her the money but she refused and a fight arose in which the suspect hit the deceased and held her on the neck which resulted to her suffocating in his hands. The suspect then decided to chop her body into pieces and put them into 3 different bags.
The suspect Baboucarr Jallow then decided to take a taxi in order to throw the body away. The first Taxi Driver he attempted to take refused because the man told him that he had slaughtered a cow for rituals but the meat was not fit for consumption and he wanted to throw the meat around the Airport. The taxi driver got suspicious and reported the case at the Farato Police Station. He (Baboucarr Jallow) then took another taxi to throw the body parts away and from then he has gone into hiding.
Meanwhile, the suspect killer has confessed his crime to the police investigators. The body is taken for postmortem at the main referral, Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.
